Occasionally, some of you may experience problems with an installation of an app. For those times, you may be contacted and asked to download a special version of the app from outside the Android Market. This has remedied such problems in the vast majority of situations. Below is the procedure for accessing such special repair downloads:

1. From your Android device's home screen, press the Menu button.

2. Tap "Settings".

3. Scroll down to "Applications" and tap on it.

4. For the option "Unknown sources", at the top, check the box.

5. Return to your Android device's Browser application and go to the special download page, then enter the password and follow any instructions.

If you are a first-time user, you may find this procedure preferable for installing a new application, particularly if you observe force-closes when you try to start it or use it.

If you are updating an application and the above procedure fails to make your download work, you may need to delete the previous installation of your application. NOTE: Any data you had in the previous version of the application will likely be lost, unless the application has built-in backup & restore capabilities.
